Hello and Welcome!
I’m Jo-Maree Courtney. I’ve been a research scientist for nearly 20 years and have worked across a number of different fields.
My goal with this blog is to Help Scientists Do Science. That is, I want to help you with all those extra things scientists need to know that aren’t taught as part of a science degree. How to write effectively. How to put together a figure in Photoshop for your next publication. How to design a fabulous poster for that big conference. And simply how to manage day-to-day life in the lab.
This blog as developed from a previous blog called Photoshop for Scientists – Photoshop is a particular passion of mine and I’m interested in the principles of design, especially when applied to scientific imaging. That blog was reasonably successful but I felt I wanted to broaden the scope and so Come Science With Me was born.
If you work in research science – whether as a technician, graduate student, post-doc or senior researcher – I hope you will find something useful here.
If you ever have any specific requests or problems please feel free to leave a comment. I look forward to hearing from you!
